EDWARD P. HETRICK
President
Facility Development and Management, LLC
Edward P. Hetrick, President of Facility Development and Management, LLC (FDM) has over 30 year’s experience in the healthcare industry. Mr. Hetrick has held management positions in major teaching institutions in the New York metropolitan area as well as a consulting position within the healthcare division of a big six accounting firm.
As President of FDM, Mr. Hetrick has been involved in the development of over 50 ambulatory surgery centers. These centers have included a variety of centers from small single specialty centers to large hospital physician joint ventures. FDM continues to manage several of the centers.
Prior to founding FDM, Mr. Hetrick was a Vice President at a firm that specialized in reimbursement consulting for physicians and outpatient hospital accounts.
Mr. Hetrick was the Director of Operations Management at a major teaching institution in New York City and had also been the Operating Room Administrator for the 30 Operating Room Suite where he oversaw the final construction and planned and implemented the move into a new operating room suite that consisted of 26 operating rooms.
Throughout his career, Mr. Hetrick has been involved in the planning, design and selection, as well as the implementation, of both manual and automated systems. While with the consulting firm, he implemented ADT and Patient Accounting systems and during his employment at the hospital he was intimately involved with systems for the Operating Rooms, QA/UR, Medical Records, Outpatient Clinics, Pharmacy and Home Care.
While employed at a nationally recognized cancer treatment center, Mr. Hetrick focused his efforts on Grants and Contract Management. As Director, he held the responsibility for the dispersion and auditing of $50 million in research funds.
Mr. Hetrick received his B.S. from the United States Military Academy at West Point. He holds an M.B.A. from Columbia University School of Business, and an M.P.H. in Hospital Administration from Columbia University School of Public Health.
Additionally, he has taught graduate level courses in Management Information Systems at Columbia University School of Public Health and Healthcare Economics at Sacred Heart University Graduate School of Business. In 1996 he was selected by HCFA to sit on the Clinical Experts Panel for the development of practice expense relative value units for the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule.
Mr. Hetrick was named as one of the 44 ASC Management and Development CEOs to Know as well as 170 People to Know in the ASC Industry. He has contributed to numerous articles pertaining to the ASC industry.
He is a frequent speaker at Orthopedic and Business Seminars. He is a member of ASC Association, NY, Florida and NJ Ambulatory Surgery Association.
ELLEN M. JOHNSON

Ellen M. Johnson, Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Facility Development and Management, LLC (FDM) has over 20 years experience within the healthcare arena. Ms. Johnson has held management positions within a physician management firm, and in various departments of a 370 bed suburban regional medical center. She also served as nursing director for a home care agency and a staff nurse in a medical surgical unit and newborn nursery of a community hospital.
Prior to joining FDM, Ms. Johnson was Executive Director of an emerging group purchasing organization for a physician management company. This new organization was structured in conjunction with a nationally recognized group purchasing company. Within the same physician organization, she was the Director of Clinical Services overseeing all activities as they related to physician relations including physician site visits for credentialing for third party insurers.
As Planning Manager for a regional medical center, Ms. Johnson coordinated activities associated with multi-million dollar projects that included: the in-house addition of a multi-specialty ambulatory surgery center, maternal child programming and unit renovation, a free standing dialysis center and an emergency department renovation that incorporated a successful bid for NYS Level II Trauma Center status. Prior to joining the Planning and Marketing Department, Ms. Johnson was the Employee Relations Manager in the Human Resources Department where she oversaw all recruitment and employment activities for the hospital. In addition, she communicated labor regulations changes and updates to senior hospital administration, department directors and supervisors and developed the orientation of new employees.
As Nursing Director of the home care agency, Ms. Johnson was responsible for the activities of both the professional and paraprofessional staff as well as initial and subsequent evaluations of patients. At the hospital, she served as a staff nurse in both the medical surgical division and the newborn nursery.
Ms. Johnson received her B.A.. from Mercy College, her A.A.S. in Applied Sciences from Rockland Community College and has completed the course work towards a graduate degree in Public Administration at Long Island University. She holds a Registered Professional Nurse’s license in the state of New York. In 1998-99, Ms. Johnson was selected and successfully participated in the Leadership Rockland Program. Additionally, she served as Vice President on the Board of Directors of Child Care Resources in Rockland, the Board of Directors of United Hospice of Rockland and the Alumni Association of Mercy College.
